What it Means for Advocates:
|
|
Host a hunger banquet at your synagogue or community center. Invite guests to pre-register for a banquet. As guests enter, they receive a ticket that places them at high, middle, or low-income seating. The 15% of people at the high-income table receive a scrumptious meal. The 35% at the middle-income table help themselves to rice and beans. The remaining 50% help themselves to amounts of rice and water like more than half of the world’s population. The experience of this banquet should also include time to de-brief the experience by the participants. There are many more resources available about this type of event here. The proceeds of your event should go to support anti-poverty and anti-hunger resources in your community.
